A Message from the Principal (22/05/2020)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Good evening– I hope you are all keeping safe and enjoying the beautiful weather. Thank you all for your continued hard work and resolve during these unprecedented times – I sincerely hope your friends and families are well.

Given all of the mixed messages regarding schools and the current pandemic I wanted to update you all on a few key issues before the half-term break:

Academic work over half-term – Please be advised that there is no firm expectation for academic work to be completed during the half term holiday. Whilst some work may be set by teachers – completion is optional – as we want all of our students and their families to use this holiday to rest and relax. We are aware and really appreciate that many families have been working hard to ensure students stay engaged in their education.

School proposed re-opening – In line with government guidance we are preparing to offer academic provision in our early years setting and to our Year 10 pupils. We are currently in the process of planning and implementing changes around the school to facilitate this process and ensure that we can minimise risks to staff and students. Information will be shared with parents once these plans are confirmed and as Principal I do not envisage the school being ready to open before 8th June 2020. More information will soon follow in regards to this – so please continue to check our online platforms. I appreciate this may be different from government guidelines but I will not sanction the opening of the school in any capacity until I am satisfied we have taken all measures necessary to safeguard the welfare of our students and staff.

Lastly, please be aware that the school will continue to remain open over the half-term holiday for our most vulnerable students and for those whose parents are keyworkers.

Have a wonderful half-term and keep safe!

Mr A Bissoo
Principal
